Green Roofing and Roof Systems

It is important to remember that green roofing is still roofing. The most important function of a roof is to keep the moisture and other elements out of the building. There are many different types of roof membranes and systems and it is important to have qualified professionals with an understanding of roof systems, engaged in the execution of your green roof project. These photos illustrate a typical TPO green roof membrane. This is a single ply membrane product and as is the case with most roof systems, it consists of several layers. Here we see the white TPO membrane being installed over the green protection board which is covering 2 layers of insulation. We can also see the welding process where the seams of the membrane are welded together. Roofing is highly technical so be sure to consult with a qualified professional before undertaking a green roof project.
